STCW Proficiency in Medical First Aid Course (3 Day)

Course overview

Course is open to all persons  who are undergoing initial training as officer candidates, trainee ratings and those who wish to take up employment as sea farer with designated first aid duties .

The course is specifically designed to meet the requirements of Chapter v1, A-V1 1-3 of the STCW code. On completion the students will have the skills and knowledge to deal with a medical emergency and take immediate action until a higher level of care arrives.

Course Programme

The course is 3 days in duration and on completion the student will demonstrate knowledge and skills in the following;

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Medical Equipment
  • C.P.R. and the use of an A.E.D.
  • Bleeding and Haemorrhage control
  • Shock
  • Vital Signs
  • Splinting
  • Casualty handling and extrication

A separate certificate for the use of Automated External Defibrillators will be issued to students on completion of this course.
